New English Translation
3 Even when an army is deployed against me,
I do not fear.[a]
Even when war is imminent,[b]
I remain confident.[c]
4 I have asked the Lord for one thing—
this is what I desire!
I want to live[d] in the Lord’s house[e] all the days of my life,
so I can gaze at the splendor[f] of the Lord
and contemplate in his temple.
5 He will surely[g] give me shelter[h] in the day of danger;[i]
he will hide me in his home.[j]
He will place me[k] on an inaccessible rocky summit.[l]
